As part of the Maternity team, you will have responsibility for all aspects of the use and development of the maternity information systems. You will co-ordinate and provide IT education, training and have overall responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of data within the service. You will work closely with staff to ensure that they are supported with inputting data correctly. Your role will include supporting the process of monthly reports of KPI, the maternity dashboard and cross checking of data to ensure accuracy.
You will work with members of the multidisciplinary team within the hospital and community venues, including Midwifery staff, medical personnel, coding, contracts, information and IT. You will deliver information based on current evidence based research.
Main duties of the job
1. Be responsible for all aspects of the ongoing management and development of the maternity information system.
2. Lead in implementing new solutions as the needs of Maternity service change and the capabilities of the IT systems evolve.
3. Work in collaboration with the IT Supplier and technical staff at the Trust and the IT Providers to implement new interfaces to other Trust and Maternity systems as the needs of Maternity services change and the capabilities of the system evolve.
4. Support in the process for submitting monthly dashboard and quarterly KPI information.
5. Liaise with the coding team to ensure correct coding and payment pathways.
6. Work with the Information Department in submitting the monthly MSDS report.
7. Liaise with the Hearing Screening team, Child Health Hub and Birth Registration to ensure correct information transfer of birth notifications and receipt of NHS numbers.
8. Support the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Team with data collection and submission for national and regional data submissions.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Registered Midwife
* Teaching qualification (ENB 997 or equivalent/MSSP)
* Excellent IT knowledge - Microsoft office, Excel, European Computer Driving License (ECDL) Word and PowerPoint software
* Evidence of ongoing professional development
Knowledge & Experience
* Two to three years post registration experience at Band 7
* Experience in all areas of Midwifery practice, including quality improvement and project management
* Evidence of understanding and facilitating change in practice
* An understanding of current developments in the NHS
* Demonstrates an understanding of the concept of clinical and shared governance
* Demonstrates an understanding of evidence-based practice
* Experience of working with healthcare clinical IT systems
* Good understanding of digital systems and advances to develop and manage electronic patient records
* In-depth understanding of the Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS) and ability to apply the findings to improve service delivery
Skills & Abilities
* Evidence of relevant involvement in meeting the Trust's clinical governance objectives
* Presenting and teaching skills
