International Risk and Controls sits within International Card Services (ICS) which comprises of all the issuing functions across all 28 international markets excluding the US - colleagues operate across a variety of geographies and disciplines. The objective of the ICS Control Management Governance team is to establish the Operational Risk and Controls strategy for ICS and set up a foundational governance structure that ensures operational risks are identified, assessed, and managed in compliance with enterprise Operational Risk Management programs and reporting.
How will you make an impact in this role?
ICS Control Management is looking for an Analyst of Governance-Exam Management focused on ensuring control management is embedded in the day-to-day operations of our organization related to regulatory exam management. It will involve extensive collaboration with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies.
The Analyst, ICS Control Management, Governance-Exam Management will:
1. Assist in specific areas of execution plans for operational risk management within the business unit (BU), including BU specific guidelines, project plans, etc.
2. Support the implementation of parts of the operational risk framework to enable effective risk management and decision making in the BU.
3. Facilitate the day-to-day external exam management process, working with the Enterprise functions (e.g., preparing stakeholders before and during on-site engagements, data request compilation, factual accuracy review of potential findings, quality control of regulator-bound documentation and action plans, rigor over action-plan implementation, and regulatory adherence).
4. Assist in the management of specific risk and controls governance forums for ICS, interfacing with org-wide governance processes and committees (e.g., Operational Risk Management Committee) and share insights and lessons learned across forums.
5. Assist in the development of portions of BU-specific procedures and additional standards (i.e., escalation protocols), related to the execution of the Operational Risk Management programs.
6. Help facilitate the understanding and use of the risk governance framework basics across BUs through regular communication.
7. Assist to aggregate basic level reporting, approvals/exceptions and support 'change-the-function' activities for the BU.
8. Provide administrative support of specific training initiatives and clear career progression plans that align with Operational Risk Management.
9. Follow processes to ensure and monitor the integration of regulatory changes & updates into the Operational Risk framework and training materials.
10. Support sharing insights, better practices, themes, etc. across the enterprise.
Minimum Qualifications
1. 1-2 Years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function/Regulatory body).
2. Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities.
3. Project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
4. Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards.
5. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous.
2. Experience in at least one of the following:
1. Prior experience as an auditor/examiner.
2. Facilitating the operational risk exam management processes.
3. Translating operational risk strategy and appetite into execution guidelines.
4. Provide administrative support of implementing the operational risk governance frameworks.
3. Supporting the creation, communication and ensuring understanding and adherence to operational risk procedures and standards.
