What is the overall job?
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor is a developmental role that, with the support of other commercial staff, will liaise with the Package Manager and all members of the Package Team providing support for the commercial performance and administration of packages, whilst also supporting the Commercial Team in the administration of the project.
In accordance with Multiplex's policies, systems and procedures, the AQS will support other members of the Commercial Team in monitoring and managing the commercial aspects of packages and commercial functions and assist the team in delivering strategies and actions to mitigate commercial risk and protect profit margins. The AQS will also support the accurate and timely submission of commercial information to the Commercial Team to meet project reporting requirements, inclusive of Change / Reporting / Applications for payment / Claims / Sub-Contractor Accounts.
* Administer commercial matters delegated to them for their packages, which could include: payments, revenue and cost recoveries, reporting requirements all in line with statutory and Multiplex timetables and policies.
* Support Package Team to successfully progress and complete packages in line with revenue and programme requirements, and support delivery of package in line with profit expectations.
* Support wider commercial team with regards to profit maximisation, Client Change, and reporting.
* With support from line manager and more senior commercial team members, progress and deliver their professional development plan.
What do I need to be successful in this role?
* Understanding how to correctly price a Client Change for submission.
* How to evaluate a variation received from a sub-contractor.
* How to produce an Application for Payment to the Client.
* How to evaluate an Application received from a sub-contractor.
* The importance of maintaining and producing site records.
* Testing and Commissioning of the Project and the contractual obligations in this regard.
* Project Completion and Handover obligations.
* Basic understanding of the Head Contract and the Sub-Contract and how they link together.
* Cost Control and Cash Management.
* The importance of the payment mechanism within the Sub-Contract and paying on time.
* Knowledge of IFS and how to input on IFS.
