We currently have a vacancy within the Department of Facilities Management for an Apprentice Maintenance Technician.
The purpose of this role is to train towards becoming a multi-skilled technician, being able to complete tasks across a range of disciplines within a maintenance environment.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to undertake an Installation/Maintenance Technician apprenticeship for which time will be given to attend the course. Following completion of the apprenticeship, the post holder will have the skills and knowledge required to maintain both electrical and mechanical systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The post holder’s duties will be phased in line with assessment based on skills, knowledge, experience, and competence gained throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.
2. Over the duration of the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will be trained to become competent in the duties listed below. The initial level of expertise will be accepted as one of a novice recruit and a development plan will be agreed in order to measure progress.
3. Planned preventative maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
4. Reactive maintenance on a range of electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring work is carried out to a high standard and in a safe manner.
5. Installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
6. Use of building management systems and technical manuals to ensure systems are maintained in line with relevant standards and regulations.
7. Use of information technology during duties.
8. Use of hand and power tools safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures.
9. Use of access equipment in line with training and standard operating procedures.
10. Record keeping of work completed, ensuring documentation is completed in a tidy and timely manner.
11. Effective communication with staff, patients, and colleagues.

Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE Grade C/4 in English and Maths and/or equivalent qualification.
