The council is currently looking for an officer to join this multi-disciplinary team for a fixed term period from January 2025 – the end of October 2025.
The specialist support team works with council tenants to reduce the high risk of eviction and abandonment. From January 2025, the team will be able to provide support to refugees who have a tenancy, aiming to increase their ability to manage a healthy tenancy; this part of our service is tenure neutral.

The team provides intensive support, predominantly in person in the tenant's home and in the community, working with colleagues in Norwich City Council and partner agencies to reduce the risk of homelessness and increase the tenant’s ability to manage a healthy tenancy for the long term.
The team does this by:
* Increasing the tenant's feeling of safety within their home and community.
* Increasing their ability to maintain their home.
* Stabilising their financial situation and increasing their ability to manage their bills, including rent payments.
* Improving their physical and mental health.
* Increasing their ability to communicate and advocate for themselves.
* Increasing their support networks – family, friends, and services.
* Increasing their positive use of time.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience of successfully engaging with individuals and families who experience complex social issues. They will be able to use assessment tools to identify support needs and have experience of coordinating and delivering comprehensive, tailored support. They will use coaching approaches that result in empowering individuals and families to confidently resolve difficulties that they face.
They will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with colleagues, partners, and members of the public. They will have some experience of working with Microsoft Office software and be capable of learning to use new information management systems. They will be self-motivated, a good team player, and can demonstrate a professional and flexible attitude to their work.
