About the role
MacKillop Education is a Catholic Specialist P-12 School that comprises three school campuses: Geelong, Maidstone, and Caulfield. It caters for children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. The students referred to MacKillop have a history and/or ongoing experience of trauma, and their needs are complex and diverse; self-regulation is difficult for our students and this can result in challenging social and emotional behaviours.
This position is situated within MacKillop Education at the Caulfield Campus. The VET Trainer is a member of our MacKillop Education Caulfield Campus. The VET Trainer will work collaboratively with the Senior Staff and Pathways Leader to develop and deliver the Vocational and Education Training Program.
This is a Permanent Part-Time (7.6 hours per week) opportunity based in Caulfield within our MacKillop Education (Caulfield Campus) program. The position reports to the Principal.
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration or Permission to Teach.
* A current Certificate IV Training and Assessment or similar relevant qualification.
* A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
* Demonstrated experience in implementing aspirational initiatives to engage students in their learning. Experience as a VET Trainer will be highly regarded.

Requirements:
* Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
* Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
* Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
* Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed/client-facing roles). MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application.
