Our client's Building Design Practice have a vacancy in their Newcastle office covering the Northeast region, for a Senior Chartered Building Surveyor/ Senior Building Surveyor to work in a multi-disciplinary environment to deliver a full suite of Building Surveying duties. This position would be an excellent opportunity for a Senior Chartered or Senior Building Surveyor with post qualification experience, to develop their career within a forward-thinking organisation. Responsibilities: - Working across a number of projects in different sectors and providing a range of building surveying / project management duties. Local Authority/ Government agencies would be an advantage. - Assisting with the development of new and repeat business. - Managing the client relationship and service delivery on a project by project basis in conjunction with senior colleagues. Supporting Practice Management in the day-to-day running of the business, you’ll also be involved with the following: - Project management and Contract Administration duties for larger projects. - Condition and measured surveys. - Designing and implementing small - medium sized projects. - Due diligence surveys. - The use and application of standard forms of building contracts, such as JCT and NEC. - Keeping abreast of industry issues and developments in best practice. - Experience of defect analysis, undertaking building surveys and producing professional reports and specifications. - Mentoring and training junior Building Surveyors as well as an active participation in the APC programme. - Understand the principles of quality, safety and the environment within the management of projects. - Report to your line manager and undertake work activities as defined by your manager. - Networking to develop the organisation's local presence. - Networking to develop business opportunities. - Take the lead in developing and issuing bids in compliance with the organisation governance requirements. - Take the lead in taking instructions and running jobs and commissions. - Lead design teams. - Undertake role of principal designer in accordance with the organisation requirements. - Provide project management services.
Requirements
- BSc (Hon's) Building Surveying RICS Accredited degree or similar. - Full member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, MCIOB or similar. Desirable but not mandatary. - Ability to demonstrate good all-round surveying experience and be client facing with work winning skills. - Experienced in project design, leading multidisciplinary refurbishment and extension projects, up to c£1m capex. - Experience of both pre and post contract project management responsibilities and be able to deliver this service effectively to Clients. - Good team working skills and ability to communicate well at all levels. - Prepared to travel as required. - To liaise with senior colleagues to help build a profitable service and positive, high performing team environment. - Strong IT skills, Word and Excel as a minimum. Candidates should be able to produce, edit and format documents. - AutoCAD skills as a minimum, experience of using Revit would be an advantage. - Ability to manage and develop team members including mentoring of APC graduates. - Experience of managing clients and their expectations. - Full understanding of Health and Safety requirements, including CDM 2015. - Experience of performing the role of Principal Designer, would be advantageous.
