About the role
We are seeking an experienced SEO Technical Lead to join our dynamic digital team. The SEO Technical Lead will be responsible for driving organic search growth through advanced technical SEO strategies and practices. This role requires a deep understanding of search engine algorithms, technical SEO best practices, and a proven track record of improving site performance and search rankings.
The SEO Technical lead will be responsible for delivering the onsite and technical strategy to help improve the organic search presence for Boots.com. As we embark on our digital transformation journey, the technical lead will work closely with the Head of SEO and our agency partners to deliver our future commerce platform.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement comprehensive technical SEO initiatives to improve organic search performance.
* Conduct detailed technical SEO audits to identify and resolve issues affecting site performance, crawlability, and indexability.
* Collaborate with product teams, web developers and UX & UI to implement technical SEO recommendations to improve customer experience.
* Ensure that our website is adhering to best practice across Website Architecture, URL Structure, Site Speed, Schema Mark-up, Mobile-Friendliness, and other critical technical aspects.
* Utilise tools including Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, Screaming Frog, Lumar, Pi Datametrics and Sistrix for analysis and reporting.
* Analyse crawl data and log files to understand impact of SEO efforts and adjust strategies accordingly.
* Mentor and guide junior members of the SEO team by providing expertise and support.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, PMO, Development & Engineering and 3rd parties to ensure SEO is integrated into all projects.
What you’ll need to have
These are the essential skills or experience needed to succeed in this role.
* Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of hands-on technical SEO experience, preferably in a retail or e-commerce environment.
* In-depth knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies.
* Experience in managing large site migrations with proven success.
* Proficient in using tools including Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, GA4, Lumar, Sistrix and other large enterprise tools.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Experience creating requirements for product and engineering teams.
* Proven project management skill with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
* Experience working in a cross-functional team and the ability to deliver complex technical SEO changes.
