Patient Interaction Greet patients and visitors warmly upon arrival. Handle telephone and in-person inquiries professionally and efficiently. Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments using the practice's system. Provide information about the practice's services and procedures. Administrative Duties Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality. Process patient registrations, including verifying personal details. Manage correspondence such as emails, letters, and referrals. Handle repeat prescription requests in line with practice policies. File and retrieve patient records and documents as needed. Operational Support Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and appointment scheduling. Assist with preparing rooms and equipment for clinics when necessary. Record and manage patient arrivals and waiting lists. Address patient complaints or direct them to appropriate staff for resolution. Compliance and Confidentiality Adhere to all practice policies, including confidentiality and GDPR regulations. Ensure infection control measures are followed in the reception area. Skills and Qualifications Essential Previous experience in a healthcare or GP practice setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in IT systems, particularly appointment booking software (EMIS) Ability to multitask in a busy environment. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection regulations. Desirable Knowledge of medical terminology. Training in customer service or administration. Working Conditions Hours: Full-time/part-time as required, including occasional evenings or weekends. Environment: Office-based, within a GP surgery.
