Following an internal move, we have anexcellent job opportunity which provides leadership and highly specialistclinical input to support children and young people with autism and SENDalongside another similar B7 post. Our team is part of the autism diagnosticpathway and we work closely with the MDT including Paediatricians and theAutism Outreach Team. We also provide support and intervention for children andfamilies including group and individual input. We are very proud to do thisagainst a background of increasing demand for our service and we have deployedinnovative strategies to address these issues. Our department is involved inmulti-agency work to develop and improve the neurodevelopmental pathway forchildren and young people who are neuro-diverse.
You will be based mainly at Sunderland ChildrensCentre but you will also work across education and community settings.Excellent support, supervision and training will be provided. You will join ourwell-established Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) service which covers SouthTyneside and Sunderland. You will have opportunity to develop your clinical andleadership skills. As a team we worktogether to provide the best service we can whilst striving to develop staffwho are our key asset to improve patient outcomes. Main duties of the job
We provide Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) across South Tyneside and Sunderland. We are in the process of aligning services across South Tyneside and Sunderland to improve patient outcomes and equity across our area and you will be involved in this exciting work too.
You will:
1. Have significant experience and expertise of working with children with SEND and autism, including the diagnostic pathway
2. Experience of teaching and training others
3. Have excellent prioritisation, communication and team working skills
4. Be well supported within a large, forward thinking department which is embedded in a successful Therapy Services Directorate
5. Have a proactive and flexible approach to problem solving and caseload management to ensure we take the service forward to support care across a range of settings to meet caseload challenges
6. Meet the travel requirements of this post.

7. To provide highly specialist SALT assessment and diagnosis within the Diagnostic Pathway for Children and Young People with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) age 0-18.
8. To take a lead role as part of the MDT diagnostic team working together with the SALT Operational Lead and Head of Service and Consultant Paediatricians to provide timely Language and Communication assessments that contribute to a diagnosis of ASD.
9. To play a lead role in providing post - diagnostic support and advice working closely with the Sunderland Autism Outreach Team and other services.

20. Degree in Speech and Language Pathology / Therapeutics or equivalent.
21. Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy (RCSLT) Certificate to Practice.

23. Post-graduate training and experience equivalent to Masters Level, working as a qualified SALT with children with a wide range of dysphagia, speech, language and communication disorders including complex disability / medical needs.
