Brackenfield School is an area special school for the South of Derbyshire, providing an exciting and relevant education for young people with complex needs including communication and comprehension difficulties.
The Head Teacher and Governors wish to appoint a Facilities Manager for 37 hours a week.
The successful candidate will oversee the site team to ensure that the maintenance and operation of buildings and all facilities are functioning optimally and safely.
Duties will include managing site team/caretakers and cleaning staff over 2 sites.
They will be responsible for overseeing service level agreements with external suppliers and contractors, and compliance with health & safety regulations.
A Facilities Manager requires a range of skills, including great attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with different levels of staff within the organisation. A Facilities Manager should be able to manage the company’s services within budget constraints and according to the level of expectation set by the company/organisation. Prerequisite skills and qualifications needed for the role include:
1. Leadership skills to manage maintenance team and contractors
2. Good verbal and communication skills
3. Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation
4. Negotiation skills for negotiating contracts and managing projects
5. The ability to set targets, deadlines, and budgets
6. Qualifications in health and safety or willingness to complete training
7. Sound problem-solving skills and a willingness to be available after hours when required
