Spire Southampton Hospital is looking to recruit a Health and Safety Officer to support line managers to ensure that working practices are established for employees, contractors and volunteers who visit or work at the facility do so in a safe and healthy environment in accordance to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of the Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 are complied with. Duties and responsibilities: Responsible as the H&S Officer for the oversight of the day-to-day management of health and safety across the hospital through support and guidance. Advising the Hospital Director, Senior Management Team and the hospital Health and Safety Committee on general health and safety matters, seeking further information from the appropriate Group specialists, or retained consultants, as necessary Assisting the Hospital Director and Senior Management Team in undertaking and implementing risk assessments, in accordance with Group procedures, for the premises and activities undertaken at the premises, the use of computer workstations, manual handling activities of staff and the use of, or exposure to, hazardous materials and agents used during, or arising from, work undertaken. Monitoring of the quarterly AMAT health and safety audits to ensure compliance. Who were looking for: Good standard of secondary education with demonstrable literacy and numeracy skills. IOSH Managing Safely / IOSH Working Safely course NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or the willingness to undertake qualification ) Previous experience working in the healthcare industry or a similar customer orientated organisation.
