Island Métis Family & Community Services Society provides a variety of support programs to Métis children and families living in the greater Victoria area. Currently, IMFCSS is accepting employment applications for the following position.
Youth Support Worker
(Part-Time Position)
Minimum qualifications, ALL of which must be met in order to be considered for the position:
1. B.S.W. or B.A. in Child and Youth Care or demonstrated equivalent experience.
2. Working knowledge of the Child, Family & Community Services Act (CFCSA) and all other legislation relevant to Child Protection work. Knowledge must be current, within the last two years.
3. Knowledge of social work policies, procedures, ethics, principles and practice.
4. Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and contemporary issues affecting Indigenous peoples, preferably Métis.
5. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
6. Excellent organizational, record-keeping and management skills.
7. Proficiency in the use of computer software, including ability to create statistical reports in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Experience:
1. One to two years recent, and directly related, experience in family and child welfare, (depending upon degree), preferably in an Indigenous organization.

Location:
At the office of Island Métis Family & Community Services Society, located at 345 Wale Road, Victoria.
This position requires union membership. Hourly rate is between $29.17 - $33.49 based on the JJEP Grid Level 12 - Step 1. Normal schedule of work is 18 hours per week, performed Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with the schedule to be set in collaboration with the Team Leader and Executive Director based on program need.
