The work-load throughout the department is very varied and interesting with no two days being the same. The successful candidate must be dynamic, possess excellent communication skills, and have a high sense of professionalism and a strong belief in the value of teamwork.
We will develop your skills to ensure that you work to the highest of standards to triage our patients safely and stream them to various agencies.
You will need to be competent in all areas of the Emergency Department such as triage, resus, majors, ambulance triage, rapid access majors, minor injuries (plastering, suturing, wound care).
You will be RN (Adult)/RGN qualified with at least 2 years post registration experience and have a commitment in progressing within the specialty as demonstrated in your professional portfolio.
Main duties of the job
As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be required to support the senior and junior team in ensuring the needs of our patients are met through the delivery of high quality care. The role involves working as part of a large multidisciplinary team including the ED medical team, clinical practice educators, safeguarding, mental health liaison team, and clinical specialties. The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse works clinically including unsocial hours and will be expected to work competently in all areas of the Emergency Department as well as being able to independently take charge of them.
The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will assist their Team leader with managing their own team of nurses and ensuring they meet their potential.
As a band 6 Junior sister charge nurse in our busy Emergency Department, you will have the opportunity to work in all areas including children's ED to increase your skill set and competency.
You will also be responsible for link roles giving you the opportunity to drive change and improve standards.
