Our client based in Thamesmead is looking for a Technical Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. Job Description: Responsible for the smooth and safe running of all technical operations Responsible for technical support of production to ensure on time in specification output Responsible for technical support of sales – a member of the product development group and responsible for driving product development projects as agreed Create and implement best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance In agreement with the executive directors ensure that engineering strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets and which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market Take ownership of engineering-related operating, quality, environment and health & safety procedures policy, guidelines and any associated documents Initiate and develop creative and innovative engineering processes/ improve existing processes Provide leadership to direct reports to create a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions – recruitment, training, coaching, developing and maintaining of staff competence Set department objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance Ensure strong communication between team members and production supervision Complete regular performance reviews, manage attendance and holidays, ensure disciplinary issues are reported and dealt in a timely manner Work with the Engineering team to translate Company’s business strategy into specific annual performance goals and departmental objectives - including KPIs, and to track them As a member of the HASAW Committee, ensure departmental compliance with Health and Safety, Quality Management System and Hygiene procedures Tooling design, manufacture and maintenance Component drawings and specifications Embossing and decoration layout Plant design and maintenance Provision of technical support to ensure the smooth running of production (incl. out of hours cover) Provision of technical support to customers Management of technical sub-contractors Management reporting as required Project work as required Any other reasonable tasks as required Key Relationships: Internal - Sales, Production Team, Accounts Team, Warehouse & Logistics Team, External - Customers, Engineering/ electrical/ technical sub-contractors, Technical-related suppliers Direct Reports: Setters/ Toolmakers Maintenance Engineer(s) Electrician/ Electrical Engineer(s) Key Result Areas: - Production efficiency - Tooling efficiency and produced products in spec - Delivery of product development projects - Process development/ improvement - Housekeeping at high standard Qualifications, personal attributes, and skills: - Educated to degree standard or equivalent - Proven experience in tool design, manufacture and maintenance - Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements - Competency in Solid Works will be an advantage - Proven experience in the design, operation/setting and maintenance of press and auxiliary equipment – particularly CNC controlled - Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills - Enthusiasm, energy and drive Salary between £60k - £70k depending on experience Working 38.5hrs a week We are looking forward to receiving your CV
