Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Yate Minor Injuries team as an Urgent Care Practitioner, managing presentations of minor injuries within a stand alone minor injuries unit.
We strive to provide high quality, autonomous, evidenced based care, delivering advice and treatment to adults and children presenting to the UTC/MIU with minor injuries, illnesses and a wide range of complex / urgent undifferentiated conditions.
You will act as day-to-day shift lead for the service, managing patient flow within the unit and executing escalation procedures to preserve service capacity.
Open 7 days a week, 8am until 8pm, the team of Nurses, Paramedics and physiotherapists manage a busy department autonomously.
Main duties of the job
Autonomously triaging, assessing, diagnosing and treating patients of all ages who attend Yate Minor Injuries with a variety of presentations.
Undertaking treatments including suturing, plastering, x-ray interpretation, prescribing and shift management.
Making onward referrals to plastics trauma clinics, eye hospital, fracture clinic and emergency departments as needed.
Managing shift to ensure smooth running of department.
Supporting students and junior staff with their learning.

Essential
1. Professional registration with NMC or HCPC
2. Degree in a relevant health care field
3. Have completed NMP or willingness to complete

4. Recent ILS and PILS training
5. Manchester Triage qualified
Experience

6. Significant experience of autonomous practice within an urgent or emergency health care environment
7. IRMER and ability to interpret x-ray films
8. Willingness to mentor students/junior staff through training
