We have a great opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic band 5 physiotherapist to come and join our friendly and supportive paediatric physiotherapy team at Platt Bridge Health Centre.
We are looking for someone with extensive post graduate NHS experience in a community setting. Paediatric experience would be advantageous. This post is not suitable for students or newly graduated physiotherapists.
This is a full time role (37.5 hours) across Monday to Friday. Part time applicants would be considered.
An Enhanced DBS with Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be obtained during pre-employment checks.

Main duties of the job
The paediatric physiotherapy team provide assessment and treatment of children aged 0-19. We cover a range of areas such as congenital clinics, developmental delay, MSK, DCD and Neurodisability. We are a community team and therefore treat in a wide variety of settings from clinics, homes and schools/nurseries.
Through following local and national policies and guidance, you will lead on implementing best standards of practice for the service. You will take responsibility for planning, prioritising and caseload management for staff within the team to ensure that clinical delivery is safe and effective and that the service operates efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities
* As an autonomous practitioner, to provide specialist assessment and treatment of children using a variety of modalities for those whose presentation could include complex physical, respiratory or developmental difficulties and have other diverse health needs, Therapy is provided in various community settings.
* To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up to date clinical records in accordance with professional standards and local policy. To communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines verbally and in the form of letters and reports.
* To work sensitively with parents and carers to ensure excellent communication on all aspects of the child's care. To communicate effectively with children and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of conditions to give sensitive/emotive information around diagnosis and or outcomes.
* To be able to provide, receive and use complex information, including that which is highly sensitive. To use developed interpersonal and communication skills to gain co-operation where barriers to communication may exist.
* To negotiate appropriate goals with children and their parents/carers.
* To assess capacity to give consent and gain valid informed consent working within the legal framework.
* To liaise with consultants, other health disciplines or education and social services practitioners involved in the management and education of the children, to ensure an understanding of the needs of the child and to plan effective care.
* To prepare reports for Education, Health and Care Plans within the appropriate timescale, and contribute written reports, annual Reviews and Transition and contributing appropriately to development of EHCPs.
* To contribute to multi-disciplinary and multi-agency care co-ordination as named professional in a team around the child model.
* To make a differential diagnosis on the basis of evidence from assessment seeking advice as appropriate.
* To assess for and arrange procurement of medical devices (e.g. orthotics, standing frames, mobility aids, respiratory aids etc.), documenting the clinical decision making process and ensuring appropriate records of issued equipment are kept.
* To work within the Local Area Safeguarding Boards guidance for safeguarding both children and adults.
* To undertake the comprehensive physiotherapy assessment of paediatric patients including those with a complex presentation using investigative and analytical skills to formulate individualised management and treatment plans.
* To evaluate continually the effectiveness of interventions and modify the treatment plan as necessary.
* To discharge appropriately, agreeing a point of closure with the clients and carers and informing other professionals.
* To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of paediatric patients and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
* To provide planned and spontaneous advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of therapy and to ensure a consistent approach to care.
* To deliver a service in line with current national policy and guidance.
