Job overview
University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust are looking for motivated and driven Pharmacy Technicians to join their Medicines Optimisation team.
This post is suitable for:
* Qualified medicines management/optimisation technicians looking for a new challenge or a change of location
* Community-based pharmacy technicians looking for a career change
You should be able to work as part of a team but also have the ability to work flexibly and independently in a professional manner. The role will involve interaction with a variety of people, including patients, nurses, and doctors; therefore, applicants must possess excellent communication skills.
Main duties of the job
* Medicines optimisation duties on the wards, undertaking medicines reconciliation, patient’s own drug assessments, patient counselling, and reducing unnecessary wastage on discharge by managing the medication supply pathway and providing a one-stop dispensing service.
* Dispensary duties including checking dispensed medicines as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT).

Person specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Science and BTEC in Pharmacy Services
* Registration to The General Pharmaceutical Council
* Worked in an educational supervisor capacity
Experience
* Working in primary or secondary care
* Minimum 2 years experience as a qualified technician
* Experience of co-ordination or supervision of junior staff
* Neat, accurate, numerate
* Basic I.T.
* Knowledge of Wellsky software
* Experience using EPMA
