The opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Property and Casualty Underwriter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and underwriting new business accounts, ensuring profitable growth, and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients. This role requires a keen eye for detail, analytical skills, and a solid understanding of the property and casualty insurance market.
Key responsibilities:
1. Review and analyse new business applications for property and casualty insurance coverage.
2. Assess risks and determine appropriate coverage and premium rates.
3. Conduct thorough research and gather necessary information to make informed underwriting decisions.
4. Collaborate with other underwriters and insurance professionals to ensure accurate and consistent underwriting practices.
5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
Your skills and experience:
1. Proven experience as a property and casualty underwriter, preferably in a new business capacity.
2. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
3. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with complex information.
4. Proficient in using underwriting software and other relevant tools.
5. Knowledge of insurance industry regulations and guidelines.
6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Professional and strong work ethic.
