- Experience in leading large-scale development within the built environment.
- Degree or HNC/D qualified in Construction or Building Services is preferred; however, other disciplines and experience within the Built Environment may also be considered (e.g., Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Construction Project Management, Building Services, Energy and Sustainability, Construction Development Management, Real Estate Planning, and Master Planning).
- Knowledge of construction and/or manufacturing plant & equipment installations.
- Experience of managing contractors in full compliance with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations.
- Ability to identify project early warnings at all lifecycle stages and articulate potential risks, cost, and schedule impacts.
- Contract Management & Construction Law knowledge – familiarity with various construction contracts such as JCT, NEC and related special conditions, with the ability to negotiate terms that protect the organization while maintaining good working relationships.
- Risk Management – ability to identify, mitigate, and manage contractual risks including delays, penalties, cost overruns, and disputes.
- Familiarity with contractual frameworks, performance metrics, financial structures & reporting cycles of major construction activities.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills to handle disagreements effectively while protecting project integrity.
- Relevant qualifications or significant experience in managing contractor activities and ensuring construction Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH, specific safety topic training).
- Membership in a Professional Body is desirable.

Responsibilities:
- In this role, I will make my mark from day one by ensuring the successful delivery of the design, planning, and construction of various facility projects across our sites. My day will be diverse as I engage in large-scale redevelopment projects, including new industrial buildings, major refurbishments, and significant utility infrastructure upgrades. I will lead all project phases following the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Plan of Work, ensuring compliance with company and departmental quality procedures.
I will lead a diverse internal network of teams and external customers, develop and motivate assigned staff to ensure accountability, and interpret complex customer requirements to support design preparations. My duties will include procuring, collaborating, and driving multi-discipline professional consultant teams to develop facilities, manage onsite contractor activities safely, and deliver projects in line with current health & safety legislation and building control regulations.
Additionally, I will take responsibility for installations, deliver best value and customer satisfaction by managing supplier relationships, provide budgetary and financial control, manage payment schedules, and oversee claims and variations in accordance with the construction contract.
