What you’ll be doing
1. Leading the software engineers in your agile squad and working with wider stakeholders in delivering FE journeys to BT and EE’s customers
2. Driving the technical standards, culture and best practice for the engineers in the squad and the wider business
3. Working with the wider engineering community within and outside of BT to contribute to our front-end frameworks and tooling
4. Hands on development code in Flutter/Dart utilsing BloC state management and FE in React, NextJS, GraphQL and other frameworks
5. Code reviews for the squads output
6. Day to day line management, Recruitment, mentoring and goal setting for the front-end squad engineers, helping build both their careers and BT’s front-end capability
7. Ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and conform to our architectural principles
8. Working with the Product Owners, Architecture and test from across the group on solution architecture for your squads deliveries
9. Maintain and grow relationships with strategic external partners and open source projects to influence their roadmaps and continue taking best advantage of their evolving capabilities
10. Defining the monitoring strategy and inlife support for your team’s journeys including being part of an oncall rota
11. Lead by example, living the company values: Personal, Simple & Brilliant
12. Representing BT within the wider tech community helping communicate your own and the departments achievements
Skills
13. Write code from an approved requirement and design in accordance with the expected delivery timeframe and associated quality standards
14. Extensive Hands on commercial experience with Flutter / Dart utilising a State Mgt Tool ideally BloC but Riverpod or Provider would be suitable alternatives. (any exposure to Flutter Web would be highly sort after)
15. Experience on both IOS and Android platforms is ideal but preference is for IOS
16. Cloud / Devops experience with ideally AWS but Azure or GCP are welcome too
17. TDD and be able to write unit tests and other automated tests, we utilise WebDriver but if you don't have experience of this Selenium or an equivalent would be fine
18. Work on UI Interfaces than enable or increase both accessibility and awareness for users who have issues with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments. This is achieved through best practices like using clear, descriptive language, sufficient color contrast, and alternative text for images.
19. Peer review software written by team members
20. Worked in a tribe / squad model - Contribute to tribe improvement initiatives as well as tribe ceremonies (stand-up, sprint planning, demo, retrospective), Contribute to technical direction and strategy of the tri
21. Software design and development experience integrated with web services. Experience with RESTful Services and OpenAPI advantageous.
22. Have a good level of knowledge / experience of Agile software development, and supporting best practices: TDD, Pair Programming etc.
