Total Care Recruitment are seeking a Social Work Team Assistant for Looked after Childrens teams in Ballymoney area. This is a full-time, temporary block booking. You will work Monday - Friday 9am-5pm. The Social Work Assistant will be primarily responsible for assisting social work practitioners in the provision of quality social work services to children and families involved with the team. The Social Work Assistant will not have statutory case management responsibility but will undertake tasks allocated by the team leader to support social work team members in the discharge of their duties, including the preparation of reports. The Social Work Assistant will also be expected to attend to his/her professional development through training, supervision, and learning in line with NISCC registration. Duties: Undertakes work under the direction of the Team Leader or Social Worker and in keeping with the assessed Care Plan. Undertakes the arrangement and delivery of services, assessed by social work staff as needed to support adolescents and their families. This will include a significant amount of direct contact with young people and families. Undertakes tasks which have been delegated which may include co-ordinating family support meetings, diversionary and respite services, and sourcing appropriate Family Support Services/Resources. Assists in delivery of contact services including the supervision of contact arrangements as directed. This will include transport issues and ensuring completion of appropriate documentation*. Assist Social Workers setting up and facilitating Family Support meetings and also assisting families and/or young people to attend such meetings e.g., transport, supervision of children accompanied at meetings. Assessing & responding to the needs of children, young people and families in crisis to prevent family breakdown and maintain children and young people safety in the community. Stay in touch with children, young people and families and keep informed about their progress and wellbeing, which will require the ability to work unsocial hours. Essential Criteria: Applicants must be registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council. (NISCC) Applicants must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Access NI Check. Applicants must hold either NVQ Level 3, Health and Social Care or relevant equivalent qualification plus 6 months relevant experience.
