Job Summary
Under the Executive Chairmanship of Professor, the Lord Darzi of Denham, and the inaugural Directorship of Professor Alison Holmes, the Initiative aims to combine research, behaviour change, public engagement, and policy to provide real-world solutions that work to protect the health security of local populations around the world.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Design, plan and lead high quality original research, project managing the research activity, ensuring deliverables are achieved, and where applicable, supervising and taking responsibility for research team colleagues.
2. Publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
3. Attend and present work at national and international conferences.
4. Obtain research grants from national and international funding bodies; obtain funding from industry where appropriate.
5. Supervise postdoctoral researchers, postgraduate students and undergraduate research projects.
6. Make a significant contribution to building and establishing links between the founding partners, and appropriate departments, faculties, wider university and other bodies.
7. Teach courses to all levels: undergraduate, master's and higher research degrees, through lectures, seminars, course work, tutorials and personal supervision, within the regulations of the awarding body of the funder.
8. Participate in and contribute to the proper functioning and efficient running of the Medicine/Infection directorate and participate in medical audit. Show a commitment to continuing medical education (CME) and participate in CPD and in relevant quality assurance schemes.

What We Are Looking For
1. Full GMC (General Medical Council) registration.
2. Appropriate specialist qualification.
3. PhD in Infectious Diseases, antimicrobial optimisation or resistance or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience.
4. Knowledge of Infectious diseases, antimicrobial optimisation or antimicrobial resistance.
5. Experience of having conducted interdisciplinary infectious diseases or AMR research working with a range of different disciplines.
6. Experience of having conducted infectious diseases or other related research in LMICs.
7. Understanding of data-driven methodologies including machine learning, with experience in development and evaluation of clinical prediction models and / or digital interventions.
8. Experience of having planned and delivered patient and public engagement activities and a demonstrable understanding of the importance and value of these activities.
9. Knowledge of digital health interventions and the use of clinical datasets within decision-support systems, clinical wearables and novel minimally-invasive biosensors for the management.

The post is available on a part-time basis (0.8 FTE) for a fixed term period of 4 years.
