One of RHL's long-standing Oil and Gas clients has created a new role within their organisation. Working closely with the Engineering Director, you will lead a multi-disciplined engineering team on downstream assets on sites across the UK.
Salary: Up to £58,000
+ Excellent Pension and generous Leave.
The role:
1. Strategic leadership, support, and management of a group of discipline specialist Engineers who function as Technical Authorities for the organisation. The disciplines are Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control and Instrumentation, Mechanical Static Equipment, Rotating Equipment, and Civil Engineering.
2. Work closely with various stakeholders to align engineering resources to ensure overall business objectives are achieved.
3. Responsible for coordinating and prioritising tasks, assigning resources to ensure technical support to all internal and external customers is delivered on a timely basis.
4. Provide management support and guidance to the Specialist Engineers when required to overcome challenges and find innovative solutions.
5. Ensure that Engineering Projects are completed in line with company standards and relevant UK/European legislation, ATEX, PLSG, API, EEMUA, etc.
6. Support the Specialist Engineers in ensuring input is provided by the company for Scope of Works for Engineering Projects for tendering processes and to be a Technical SME in reviewing bids as part of the tendering procurement processes.
7. Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts for Engineering Projects.
8. Liaise with other members of the Engineering Team, Operations Team, Major Projects, and Competency Team on standards and codes.
9. Assist in the selection of suppliers in line with relevant legislation and Agency procedures.
10. Produce detailed programme of works/Gantt charts, etc. to monitor progress.
11. When required, deputise for the Engineering Director.
12. Act as Duty Manager for 'out of hours' emergencies on a rota basis.
Experience/Qualifications and Skills required:
You must hold a technically related degree (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) supplemented with a broad range of additional engineering/technical knowledge and experience ideally gained within a COMAH regulated industry/operation.
Experience in leadership of multi-disciplined technical teams would be beneficial, and you should already be chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant Institution.
Knowledge/Skills:
1. Able to demonstrate good management/people relationship skills, ideally gained in the management of teams of multi-disciplined professional engineers.
2. Solid understanding of good project management principles.
3. Ability to develop new ideas and solutions and have an awareness of current and new emerging technologies.
4. Working knowledge of current legislation relating to the industry such as API, EEMUA, ASME, ATEX, BS, PSLG, COMAH, CDM, etc.
