Working closely with the on-site scenic team, the Seasonal Supervisor, Scenic & Props will create, and maintain props and scenery for RWS Global clients.
It is the Seasonal Supervisor, Scenic & Props responsibility to work with the design and creative team to construct element in shows that are either used to establish the setting or used by performers to tell the story.
Props and Scenery for all shows, events, or instillations must work with the rest of the team’s vision to create a cohesive look while performing their function.
It’s the Supervisors job to create and execute the design as well as maintain these items with documentation, repair and replacement procedures, and in-house maintenance so all cast & experiences are set up for success.
It is also in the Supervisors purview to maintain all stock item in both storage and rehearsal studios.
KEY TASKS Role & Responsibilities: Respond to several rounds of approvals and make the according changes based on the design teams concepts where you may have to utilize Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD programs such as Vector Works or AutoCAD and/or hand sketching techniques to create plans for build and instillation with the design and creative teams.
To assist in creating RFP’s for all designs/builds that external shops/fabricators will be bidding on.
Organise, maintain, and budget these bids and create a check-in schedule.
Foster open communication with the shop including awarding the bid, traveling for site visits, load in/out, support on any technical requirements for production and be available, both on and off site, to make last minute executive decisions to preserve the integrity of the production.
Support and work closely with vendors, performers, and clients and maintain a professional manner that represents the RWS Global core values whilst collaborating.
1. Artisan Work: Create “do for” props for all workshops and in-house rehearsals.
Respond to rehearsal reports and making appropriate changes for the show.
Work on site for tech and support to load in/out productions.
Shop, alter and build all final props for all RWS Global Productions.
This may include but is not limited to carpentry, painting, sculpture, mold making/casting, metal work, electrical work, sewing, upholstery, and graphics creation.
Maintain all items through the life of the production and repair/replace items that do not meet RWS standards. Ensure that all props and scenic elements fit the overall aesthetic of the show but are durable and able to function over the entire run. Create a props bible for each production that contains all care instructions, tracking, and manifests.
2. Operations and Logistics Management: Responsible for shipping out of props, scenic elements, graphic elements, road kits, and install supplies for most of the projects that RWS produces.
Perform load out for all RWS shows & experiences.
This includes adding returning items to our digital inventory, photographing returned items, and repairing and restocking all returning items.
Reconcile finances and track of budgets for current projects as well as for the design departments internal budget.
Lead and manage outside teams of artisans, designers, and to create a safe and productive shop.
Keep in-house supplies stocked.
Keep all tools in safe working order.
3. Travel is required in this position.
Periodic exposure to unfavourable conditions because of unavoidable need to be in variable temperatures or wet environments, etc.
Frequently working outdoors and exposed to the elements.

4. Highschool diploma required.
Bachelor's Degree in the field of design and technical theatre preferred.
Master’s Degree in scenic or props design preferred but not required.
