The opportunity: We are looking for an experienced Construction Underwriter to join our well-established team based out of our Bristol or Birmingham office. Working predominately with both our regional and global brokers the ideal candidate will provide underwriting expertise and first-class service to brokers and customers, with a proven track record of delivering profitable growth, managing complex portfolios, building strong business relationships, and meeting business objectives. What will you be doing? Well, you can expect no two days to be the same, you’ll be working with your team and reporting into a Business Manager as well as interacting with brokers and intermediaries daily. We need you to provide a standout service experience for customers and stakeholders and be responsible for delivering quality and timely solutions for them. Key responsibilities: • Develop profitable business with a group of Construction brokers & customers. • Manage clients and leading broker relationships interacting with risk managers. • Responsible for overall service proposition on key broker accounts. • Underwrite and negotiate insurance contracts. • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant systems, products, processes and procedures to be able to provide a first class experience for Customers (both internal and external). • Ongoing self-development and learning, coaching others where appropriate. • Promote continuous improvement and process efficiency. • Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture. What are we looking for? Ideally, you will be an experienced Construction Underwriter looking for that next step or a new challenge at a large, global insurer. Having experience in the Market would be beneficial dealing with the writing of: CAR, Public / Products Liability and domestic Employers Liability insurance programmes. Strong communication and influencing skills are needed so we would like you to be able to demonstrate this. We are also looking for someone to bring their expertise and help us grow, so knowledge and understanding of industry trends is a must for us. We would also expect you to have CII qualifications or to have made good progress.
