Description In June 2023, DNV acquired Åkerblå Group which provides clients with knowledge-based advice and verification through interdisciplinary expertise in fish health, biodiversity and technical services, to use for sustainable practices and operations in the ocean. The Group is split between Norwegian operations and international operations (Non-Norwegian), with the international section including over 100 employees in total located in the UK (Ocean Ecology Group) & Iceland. Together, DNV and Åkerblå Group want to deliver superior service levels and enhanced value for aquaculture and offshore renewable customers across Europe and beyond. The Area Controller will contribute, drive and support the implementation of the common aquaculture strategy. You will be responsible for managing finance within the Ocean Ecology Group and be the contact point for the external accountant in Iceland. You will be the sparring partner for the International leg of Åkerblå Group and Åkerblå Group Finance team and hence it is crucial to build effective and collaborative business relationships. You will manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, improve processes and performance, and support the implementation of the integration activities. With the support of the Finance Director of Åkerblå Group, you will verify that activities are carried out in compliance with the strategy, annual operating plan, and DNV management systems. In addition to the above, you have a high degree of entrepreneurship and a strong interest in new technologies that can be used to further digitalize the service portfolio. You will be working in an environment with mature services as well as with services in the start-up / scale-up phase. The Area Controller will report to the Åkerblå Group Finance Director and be based preferably in Gloucester. However, we would consider another location in the UK depending on the selected candidate. Tasks may include: • Manage finance team (2) & finance operations within Ocean Ecology Group and be the contact point for the external accountant in Iceland. • Perform and manage the monthly/quarterly reporting process of relevant entities. • Perform periodic balance sheet reviews, especially related to accounts receivables, work in progress, accrued expenses and cash and bank balances • Perform and manage relevant entities' annual target-setting and quarterly forecasting process. • With the support of DNV GSS Finance, ensure that statutory and other reporting requirements for legal entities are met. • With the support of Åkerblå Group Finance Director, be actively involved in M&A projects (due diligence, post-merger integration and rationalism of synergies) • Support the Åkerblå Group Finance Director, International Director and Ocean Ecology Leaders in setting up robust business models, pricing models and cost allocation models. • Ensure that DNV Group governance principles concerning financial management, reporting and review processes are applied and implemented within Åkerblå international entities over time Responsibilities DNV is an Equal Opportunity Employer and gives consideration for employment to qualified applicants without regard to gender, religion, race, national or ethnic origin, cultural background, social group, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age or political opinion. Qualifications Position Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in finance or accountancy Relevant business experience: 5-8 years of experience as a Senior Financial Analyst, Senior Accountant, Controller, Finance Manager Very high degree of comfort and ability with Microsoft Excel (analysing data, building financial models, and drawing conclusions). Comfortable with due diligence and integration-related activities through work on M&A, auditing or financial advisory.
