Job Overview This ITR is to employ a full time Physicians Associate to provide support with the F1 Medical team to patient care on surgical inpatient wards and also to provide outpatient suspected cancer clinic capacity with the objective of offering patients referred on the suspected colorectal cancer pathway an appointment with 14 days of referral Main duties of the job Main Duties And Responsibilities Clinical / professional The majority of this role will be out-patient based but it is expected that there will be some in-patient care Two week triage and straight to test requesting Two week wait clinics- face to face and telephone Maintaining an accurate electronic list of all in-patients when working on the wards Working collaboratively especially with the F1s and Core Trainees to undertake and share ward medical jobs. Responsibility for continuity of care for patients on the ward, subsequently managing their care under consultant supervision. Exercise a high degree of personal autonomy when assessing and planning care for an agreed caseload of patients with a range of care needs. Assess and examine acutely unwell surgical patients, order appropriate investigations, interpret investigation findings, form a list of differential diagnoses and recommend treatment accordingly. Attending ward rounds and documenting in the medical notes, completing Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) documentation and ensuring that patients receive timely discharge documentation.
