Downs View is an Outstanding Special School and Colleges, providing education for young people with Special Education and Disability Needs (SEND). Our pupils are aged from 4 to 25 years and all have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Our school site is in Woodingdean with pupils aged 4 to 16. Our college site, Downs View Link College, is next to Varndean College and is for 16-19 year olds. Our other college site, Downs View Life Skills College, is in Patcham and is for 19-26 year olds.
We meet the learning needs for pupils with profound and multiple, severe and moderate learning difficulties. Many of our pupils have autism and communication difficulties. We value the importance of developing social emotional needs and life skills alongside developing academic knowledge and skills.

We currently have a vacancy for a part-time, 30 hour per week, C Grade HR Administrator to work within our Admin Team, reporting to the School Business Manager, at Downs View School in Woodingdean.
About the role
We are looking for an organised, motivated, flexible and committed individual that can support the Executive Head and School Business Manager with core school administration activities including a particular focus on:
* Recruitment:
Leading on the full Safer Recruitment process from vacancy adverts, interview booking, all safer recruitment checks, induction and onboarding.
* HR:
Providing admin support across a number of core HR processes including return to work interviews, attendance management, and other general admin support.
We are looking for people who have:
* Strong administrative and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Highly organised and able to multi-task and find solutions to complex issues.
* HR experience, in particular around supporting staff wellbeing and managing attendance.
* Good understanding of the safer recruitment process.
* A positive and proactive approach to all tasks, acting as a strong and reliable support to the Senior Leadership Team.
* Ability to prioritise, work accurately and pay attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent knowledge of a range of ICT packages including Microsoft Office and Office 365.
* Good working knowledge of school MIS systems and previous experience of working within a school/academy/college office would be advantageous.
* Good organisational and time management skills and able to use your own initiative.
* Flexible, adaptable and understand what makes a good team.
