Main duties of the job
The Assistant Practitioner (Nursing Support Worker) role is designed to provide training and development to support HCSWs, delivering evidenced based clinical care under the direction and support of a Registered Nurse by following the Health Board's protocols, policies, procedures pathways and care plans.
The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery of a high standard of safe, individualised, efficient, cost effective service under the delegated authority of a Registered Nurse/Registered Therapist.
The post-holder will communicate effectively at all times and in conjunction with other team members, contribute to and maintain the team philosophy.
The post-holder will practice in accordance with Health Board standards and statutory requirements and operate within the boundaries of the role and assessed competencies.
The post-holder will develop the role as required within the boundaries of the KSF post outline and agreed competencies.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Module 1 and Module 2 of the Level 4, Certificate in Healthcare (60 credits at level 4)
* Requirement to successfully complete modules 3 and 4 of Level 4, Certificate in Healthcare (60 credits at level 4), within one year of appointment (at KSF foundation gateway)
* Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the Assistant Practitioner within nursing/therapies
* Able to relate theory to practice
* Awareness of clinical governance
* Recognise the importance of the Fundamentals of Care to the patient/client
Experience
* Recent clinical experience of working within a relevant healthcare service environment
* Experience of delivering education
* Experience of working as a healthcare support worker
Language Skills
* Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
