Production Manager
Slurryquip is a leading manufacturer of slurry handling equipment, committed to innovation and quality in the agricultural industry. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Production Manager to oversee and improve our manufacturing operations.
Role Overview
The Production Manager will be responsible for scheduling production, coordinating with the Welding Supervisor and Assembly Supervisor, implementing improvements to Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing, and driving process improvements. This role also involves assisting with new product development, staff training, and ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are met.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Scheduling
1. Plan and manage production schedules to meet customer demand and deadlines.
2. Work closely with the welding and assembly supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
3. Monitor and adjust schedules in response to changing production needs.
Process Improvement
1. Implement JIT strategies to reduce waste and improve production efficiency.
2. Identify inefficiencies and introduce new ideas to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
3. Develop and oversee lean manufacturing initiatives.
Project Management
1. Assist in the development and introduction of new products in collaboration with the design and R&D teams.
2. Manage material ordering and maintain accurate records using Excel.
Staff Training & Development
1. Train and develop production staff to enhance skills and efficiency.
2. Implement toolbox talks to ensure best practices in manufacturing and safety.
3. Motivate and manage the production team to achieve high performance.
4. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Requirements
1. Relevant degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in a production management role within manufacturing.
3. Strong knowledge of JIT manufacturing and lean production principles.
4. Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
5. Ability to bring new ideas and implement efficiency improvements.
6. Strong problem-solving abilities and a hands-on approach to challenges.
7. Experience with staff training and development.
8. Understanding of KPIs and performance measurement.
