Position Overview: As a Planning Assistant, you will be responsible for scheduling deliveries, planning efficient routes for drivers, and liaising with customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Your role is crucial in maintaining smooth operations within the transport team, contributing to a high level of customer service and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Job Scheduling: Use a booking system to schedule and manage deliveries, ensuring that all necessary details are recorded and confirmed. Route Planning: Plan and optimise delivery routes for drivers, taking into consideration geography, traffic, and customer requirements to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. Driver Liaison: Communicate with drivers regarding delays, route changes, and other updates, ensuring that all parties are kept informed throughout the delivery process. Customer Service: Address customer queries professionally and efficiently, providing updates on delivery status or resolving issues as they arise. Administration: Process and manage all paperwork associated with deliveries through the customer portal, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Qualifications and Skills: Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Apple Mac systems. Strong geographical knowledge of the UK. Excellent communication skills, especially over the phone. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in planning or scheduling in a transport/logistics setting is desirable.
