Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Apprentice at Sunderland based accountancy practice - Torgersens. Applicants should have a genuine interest in a career in accountancy and be keen to work within a dedicated, friendly team. You will complete a wide range of accounting tasks within the office plus associated administrative tasks.
Annual wage: £12,480 a year
Salary: £12,480 - aged 16 school leavers, £13,000 - aged 17 with 1 year of A Levels completed, £13,520 - aged 18 plus with A levels completed
Training course: Accounts or finance assistant (level 2)
Hours: 9.00am to 5.15pm Monday to Friday - 36.25 hours per week.

What you'll do at work
Duties to include:
1. Preparation of sole trader / partnership accounts / preparation and submission of VAT returns / bookkeeping
2. Bank & cash book analysis, fixed asset register and debtors & creditors
3. Administration tasks such as contacting clients to request accounting records
4. Use of computerised accounting software - Sage
5. Use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
6. Dealing with clients over the telephone and face to face
The role will also require some work as part of the audit team at clients' premises.

Course contents:
1. Record transactional data.
2. Use the organisation's standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
3. Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
4. Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
5. Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods.
6. Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
7. Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Day release every 2 weeks at Access Training on Team Valley.

Applicants should have good IT skills, be keen to learn, able to work off their own initiative, and possess excellent communication skills.
