A Day in the Life of an Electromechanical Technician
In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping production running smoothly. You'll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, and automation systems for food processing equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. Your work will directly support the company's mission of delivering high-quality deli meats and other products to the market with safety and efficiency in mind.
Responsibilities include:
* Ensuring all work is performed with safety as the top priority, adhering to OSHA, HACCP, GMP, SQF, and food safety regulations
* Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical (120V to 480V), pneumatic, and hydraulic issues in production equipment
* Performing preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime
* Troubleshooting PLCs and other automation systems
* Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
* Assisting with equipment installation, upgrades, and process improvements
* Collaborating with the production and quality teams to maintain efficiency
* Maintaining accurate maintenance logs and documentation
* Ensuring a safe work environment, taking responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others
Requirements and Qualifications:
* Minimum 5+ years of experience in electromechanical maintenance, preferably in the food processing industry
* Proficiency in industrial electrical components (120V to 480V), mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and automation systems
* Familiarity with food industry regulations and OSHA safety standards
* Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying environments (hot, cold, wet conditions)
* GED or High School Diploma required
* Certifications in Electromechanical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field are preferred
