Mission of the position
The Training & Competence Business Partner will be responsible for all training and competence activities for Rolling Stock UK employees and direct contractors. Working closely with the Heads of each department; the role holder will define the training plan and budget and manage all planned and unplanned training activities within SAP Success Factors, to ensure accurate records are maintained.
The role holder will also collate and produce training reports, ensuring that competence expiry dates are communicated to managers effectively.
The role holder will work closely with leaders across the business to ensure their competence and skill requirements are understood and provide an efficient and effective service to ensure those needs are fully met, taking action as appropriate where the quality of training has been insufficient. Working with the Trade Union, or government bodies, seeking opportunities for funding sources to help to maintain competence requirements but managing cost, including delivering training internally wherever possible. The role holder will also defend CAF Rolling Stock UK in all internal and external audits; in respect to Training and Competency management.
Functions and responsibilities
1.
o Using best practice methodologies, develop, implement and manage the competency training programme for CAF Rolling Stock UK. Responsible for ensuring co-ordination and implementation of regulatory certification of competence and relevant Company standards, external accreditation standards, industry codes of practice, strategies and policies significant to the safe use, operation, assembly and maintenance of rolling stock.
o Partner with our managers to support requirements for competence and professional development; ensuring training attendance and achievements are monitored and well communicated.
o Engage with Heads of Department to understand all training requirements and develop the annual training plan and Budget in accordance with these needs.
o Manage planned and unplanned training records in SAP Success Factors, ensuring accurate recording of all training activity and competency records for employees.
o Monitor costs and budgetary control, seeking out opportunities for funding support where available to optimize spend and forecasting of all training activities.
o Report on metrics for training and competency operations.
o Defend CAF Rolling Stock UK in all internal and external audits in the field of training and competence.
o Work closely with the Special Process (SP) Co-ordinator for the business, to ensure alignment of training records and list of qualified personnel.
o Lead the Professional Sponsorship process on an annual basis.
o Monitor training satisfaction and effectiveness, taking prompt corrective actions where necessary.

* Support wider organisational people programmes, including recruitment and selection tests, annual appraisal process and succession planning process. Keep up to date with developments within CAF and other sector wide practices that influence the day-to-day activities within the role, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and any other relevant external/internal factors e.g. CAF policies and procedures, quality management standards, health and safety. Ensure, in the course of employment, complete confidentiality is maintained in respect of the company, its dealings, transactions, and all other information relating to clients/ customers and staff. Ensure sufficient verification of competence of Testing employees; to meet customer and audit expectations.

Essential Skills, & Knowledge, Experience
Mechanical or Electrical Apprenticeship or relevant degree level qualification in an engineering discipline.
City & Guilds A1 Assessor qualification or equivalent.
City & Guilds Trainer qualification or equivalent.
Internal Verifier (IV) Qualified or willing to work towards
