Brief Description of job role and department
The Emergency Planning Manager is responsible for the Council’s preparedness,
response and recovery arrangements under the Civil Contingencies Act. The postholder
will act as the Council’s resilience subject matter expert. The role includes responsibility
for the event safety process, and business continuity.
Representative accountabilities
● Lead on the development of specific policies and procedures to contribute to the
continuous improvement in own work area.
● Where relevant coordinate the work of a team, either formally or as part of a project to
ensure individual and team objectives are delivered.
● Manage individual projects or systems to ensure work objectives are delivered in line
with agreed standards and/or statutory requirements.
● Regularly communicate with partners and service providers to share information and
build working relationships to support collaborative working.
Budgetary accountabilities
● Budget manager.
● Responsible for the emergency planning budgets, project-specific budgets, and
commissioning services as required.
● Together with colleagues, ensure that the best use is made of financial resources and
support the achievement of balanced budgets and income and savings targets, as
required.
