Job Description Production Support Manufacturing Engineer - Submarines Working Pattern: 37 Hours (2 shifts AM/PM) Derby An exciting opportunity for a Production Support Manufacturing Engineer role has arisen within the New Build & Components machining team, in Nuclear (Submarines). The main aim of the role is to provide day to day engineering support to one of the machining cells within NB&C to help the operational team meet customer and business requirements in line with our key performance indicators of Quality, Cost and Delivery. The role will be largely focused towards supporting shop floor activities, as well as identifying and delivering continuous improvement projects. There is a further opportunity for this role to include section leader delegation, which will be dependent on the qualification and experience of the successful candidate. Why Rolls-Royce? What you will be doing: You will be Supporting shopfloor production with any related stops & holds in the manufacturing cell and will be responsible for sentencing part specific non-conformance. Monitoring the technical packages for the manufacture of parts. This will include Technical Instructions, Manufacturing Stage Drawings, Production Routers. Use of Build in Quality tools such as Process Maps, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEAs), and Control Plans. Verifying the processes in line with the Rolls-Royce Management System are being met.Leading of improvement projects to lift the machining cell’s capability and improve efficiency. Liaison with other functions such as design, operations, quality, planning and purchasing to ensure delivery of parts to set timescales and targeted costs. Support production to ensure product flow in the factory. Drive continuous process improvements to eliminate the need for concessions and rework. Control and reduce costs to drive profitability in the factory by continuously challenging the methods of manufacture and the designs. To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria: As a manufacturing engineer you will need to be degree qualified (or equivalent) or have the requisite technical experience, a passion to succeed and a vision of how modern manufacturing should be achieved. Professionally qualified Engineer (UK minimum HND/foundation degree or another national equivalent). Possessing general understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to the business. Possessing general awareness of Manufacturing Systems (CAD, CAM, CAPP, Manufacturing Execution System, Manufacturing Intelligence, SAP, Rolls-Royce Specifications etc.) relevant to the business. Having good understanding of Manufacturing Engineering processes relevant to the role. Have good communications skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.
