Due to increased investment into our service, we have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Childrens Speech and Language Therapy Service. You will work predominantly within schools covered by Oak Learning Trust. 3 days a week will be in Columbia Grange School. This is co-educational school for children with severe learning difficulties and/or autism between the ages of five to eleven years.2 days a week you will work in other schools covered by the Oak Learning Trust. They include 4 mainstream primary schools, 2 of which have a resource-based units for children with autism. You will be part of our needs-led team, which is dynamic, well-structured and well-run. You will have opportunity to develop your skills and work with other therapists and assistants in our team. We cover South Tyneside and Sunderland localities. There are excellent supervision and support arrangements in place. Continuing Professional Development (CPD), research and innovation are encouraged. Our team has admin and SLT Assistant support. Main duties of the job You will have experience of working with children with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties, and be able to assess, plan and provide intervention and therapy within a range of settings. You will be interested in developing your skills to provide support to children with autism and will be keen to work closely with partners across education settings as well as parents/carers. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to working in a multi-disciplinary way to facilitate the best outcomes for children. You will be well supported by our dynamic Speech and Language Therapy team. You may also have experience of working with children with eating, drinking and swallowing needs.
