Marlow Hockey Club Coaches
Marlow Hockey Club, Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
Although Marlow, on the Berkshire-Buckinghamshire border, is a small town, the hockey club is large (15 Adult teams) and successful (both first teams will be playing EHL Conference hockey next season). As importantly, we are a thriving and friendly club, with our own pitch (re-laid last season) and clubhouse in the heart of the town, and access to two other pitches five minutes away. Almost all our players are home-grown through our six hundred-strong junior section, which benefits from our close links with local primary schools and Marlow’s two State Schools.
We have EH Talent Centre and Clubmark status, and a thriving Young Leader programme. We run two, and sometimes three, teams of each gender at all junior age groups, regularly reaching national finals, particularly indoors.
We are looking to strengthen our coaching team and have sufficient scale to be able to design roles flexibly to meet individual requirements, including hours, mix of senior and junior hockey, gender, and age groups. We frequently partner with Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School to combine club and school coaching opportunities. Our current hockey sessions include:
1. Week night training sessions for U10 -U18
2. Saturday morning minis (U7-U9)
3. Indoor Hockey
4. Back to hockey
5. Flyerz hockey
6. Talent sessions for our U12-U14 age groups
7. Holiday camps
We would particularly like to develop our holiday camp programme. Ideally, we would like to recruit someone who can help us improve our delivery and build on what we have so far, which benefits from our closeness to Bisham Abbey, allowing us access to members of the England/GB centralised programme. To show our commitment to this, we are able to offer a percentage of the income to the person responsible for driving the improvement.
Our key areas of coaching needs are as follows:
1. W1s player coach (Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Saturday matches)
2. W2s lead coach (Thursday evenings)
3. Club coaches for our 5-7s women’s teams (Monday evenings)
4. Men’s club sessions (Wednesday evenings)
5. U12 boys lead coach (Thursday evening)
6. U12 girls lead coach (Wednesday evening)
7. U14 boys lead coach (Tuesday evening)
We expect coaches to hold appropriate qualifications, including safeguarding, first aid, and DBS.
