Our client, a medium consulting company with offices across the UK, is looking for a Drainage & Highways Engineer to join their growing team in London, England!
What you will need:
1. Degree level qualification in Civil Engineering
2. Chartered or working towards
3. Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) of working on projects where drainage/highways was a key/integral component of the design
4. Competence with appropriate software packages
5. Experience within civil design environment preferably within a consultancy environment
6. Experience of work winning including risk identification and mitigation
7. Proven ability to coach and manage employees
8. An adaptable and flexible working style with the ability to develop and foster collaborative working relationships
9. The ability to confidently present ideas, opinions and solutions
10. Ability to represent the company on site visits/surveys (sometimes in unsociable hours) in a professional manner
11. Experience of infrastructure projects, preferably rail or power sectors
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Work with the team to provide specialist knowledge and drainage/highways designs as well as other projects as required
2. Undertake design for infrastructure projects, including 3D surface modelling and hydraulic drainage design.
3. Represent at client, contractor, and local authority meetings.
4. Knowledge of design and approvals for S278 and S38 highway schemes with design capability when supervised by senior staff.
5. Knowledge of design and approvals of S104, S106 and S185 drainage schemes, including awareness of current drainage legislation and sustainable drainage practice.
6. Knowledge and awareness of the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments.
7. Knowledge of working with relevant CAD package and drainage modelling software such as FLOW or Micro drainage.
8. Deliver technical expertise to colleagues and clients
9. Undertake Design Risk Assessments and actively contributing to project hazard workshop reviews
10. Coordinate with design coordination/management functions and interfacing with other design disciplines
11. Input into civil engineering tendering processes by:
1. Reviewing client ITTs
2. Developing civil design strategies including producing scope of works
3. Identifying key project risks and opportunities developing potential mitigation measures
4. Engaging sub-consultants and other specialist suppliers through the procurement function
5. Coordinating the production of tender deliverables
