St Francis is the only dedicated unit for children and young people with Spinal Cord Injury. Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will provide outstanding care to children and young people with Spinal Cord Injury within a Rehabilitation environment.
The post holder is the designated deputy to the person with continuing responsibility for the Clinical ward area. He/she is designated to regularly take charge of the ward and provide effective professional and managerial leadership to all staff in the absence of the Ward Sister.
He/she is expected to carry out all relevant forms of nursing care, maintaining a high standard of acute and rehabilitation skills in the care of children with Spinal Cord Injuries within the framework of Trust policies and to be able to revalidate as a nurse as per the NMC guidance.
The post holder will need to provide specialist clinical knowledge and expertise in their related field. They will be a driver of qualitative, innovative, productive, safe evidence-based nursing care which promotes best practice and best outcomes for children and young people with spinal cord injury.

Person Specification
Experience (Essential)
* At least 2 years' experience as a Band 5
* Previous experience as shift/team leader
* Specialist requirements - a clear interest in spinal cord injury, the child and young person
* Experience of teaching students, HCA's, and qualified staff
Education, Qualifications & Training (Essential)
* Registered Nurse (Paediatric Nurse)
* Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent
* Spinal Injuries or rehabilitation course
* Diploma in Nursing
* Evidence of further continued professional development
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge (Essential)
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with multidisciplinary team, patients and carers in English
* Ability to write clearly and legibly in English
