ROLE OVERVIEW
As the Head of Risk and Compliance, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing Zego's risk management and compliance strategies. This role goes beyond traditional compliance functions—it requires a technology-driven leader who can leverage AI, automation, and data analytics to build a highly efficient, scalable, and commercially aware compliance and risk function.
You will ensure that Zego operates within regulatory requirements while proactively managing risks in a way that enhances operational efficiency, customer outcomes, and business growth. The ideal candidate is data-savvy, systems-oriented, and comfortable using AI-driven tools to automate processes, generate insights, and optimize compliance monitoring.
What you will be doing
Risk Management & Automation
* Leverage AI & automation to streamline risk identification, assessment, and mitigation processes, enabling a lean and efficient risk function.
* Enhance risk monitoring systems using AI-driven dashboards (e.g., Looker) and data analytics to identify trends, flag anomalies, and generate real-time insight.
* Implement automated risk controls that integrate seamlessly into Zego's operations, reducing manual overhead while ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
* Foster a systems-thinking culture, where risk is managed through smart workflows, automation, and real-time data rather than traditional static policies.
AI-Driven Compliance & Monitoring
* Utilize AI tools to automate compliance monitoring, replacing manual checklists with AI-driven validation of regulatory and business rules.
* Implement AI-driven KYC & AML checks, leveraging automation to streamline customer onboarding and ensure fraud detection is data-backed and scalable.
* Develop and refine AI-powered reporting tools, ensuring compliance monitoring is real-time, data-driven, and dynamically responsive to regulatory changes.
* Train the compliance team in AI-enhanced workflows, ensuring they embrace technology-first thinking rather than relying on outdated manual processes.
Regulatory Reporting & Data-Driven Insights
* Use AI tools to generate SQL queries & automate Looker dashboards, making regulatory reporting self-service and scalable.
* Enhance compliance reporting mechanisms by integrating AI to extract, analyze, and visualize compliance data for regulators and internal stakeholders.
* Ensure AI-assisted data validation to enhance the accuracy of compliance reports and prevent regulatory breaches.
* Collaborate with BI & tech teams to embed compliance automation within broader company data systems.
Operational Leadership & AI-Driven Compliance Culture
* Lead a culture of AI adoption, ensuring your team proactively identifies areas where automation can enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
* Ensure compliance is embedded into the product lifecycle, leveraging AI-driven risk modeling to ensure new offerings are compliant by design.
* Mentor and upskill your team in AI-enhanced risk management, ensuring they leverage AI tools rather than relying on outdated manual methods.
* Collaborate with product, tech, and data teams to integrate AI-driven compliance solutions directly into business processes.
What you will need to be successful
* Proven experience in compliance & risk management, ideally within fintech, insurtech, or a technology-driven financial services firm.
* Hands-on experience leveraging AI & automation for compliance monitoring, reporting, or regulatory processes.
* Data-savvy and tech-enabled, with experience using tools like Looker, SQL, or AI-driven compliance automation tools.
* Systems thinker, able to design scalable compliance frameworks that reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
* Proactive and commercially minded, with the ability to balance regulatory requirements with business growth objectives.
* Strong leadership and change management skills, with experience driving AI adoption in compliance teams.
HOW WE WORK
We believe that teams work better when they have time to collaborate and space to get things done. We call it Zego Hybrid. Our hybrid way of working is unique. We don't mandate fixed office days. Instead, we foster a flexible approach that empowers every Zegon to perform at their best. We ask you to spend at least one day a week in our central London office. You have the flexibility to choose the day that works best for you and your team. We cover the costs for all company-wide events (3 per year), and also provide a separate hybrid contribution to help pay towards other travel costs. We think it's a good mix of collaborative face time and flexible home-working, setting us up to achieve the right balance between work and life.
