Job overview
To assist the Directorate Senior Management Team, as directed by the Clinical Director, Directorate Manager / Matron / Clinical Lead in the efficient and effective operational management of resources within the Directorate/ Service Line(s) in order to deliver continually improving high quality patient care within resources available.
To work with a diverse team including administrative, clerical, nursing and clinical colleagues to ensure a smooth operational running within the Department.
Main duties of the job
1. To ensure efficient and effective operational management and delivery of national and local performance targets - RTT validation.
2. To deputise for the Operational Services Managers when necessary.
3. To assist and where appropriate lead Divisional projects, providing regular update reports on the progress of work.
4. To work with other Directorates/Divisions to ensure the achievement of the Trust’s and Divisional corporate objectives.
5. To work flexibly in order to deliver the Directorate agenda and to offer support to other colleagues including cover in times of absence.
6. To provide general administrative support to the Directorates, ensuring in particular that supporting services are delivered effectively in the interests of patient care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Person specification
Qualifications
* Intermediate level qualification or equivalent experience e.g. HNC, Diploma GCSE in English and Maths.
Experience
* Some experience of working in an acute Trust.
* Some experience of operational management.
* Some experience of cancer pathways.
* Experience of management of change issues.
Skills & Knowledge
* Operational management skills.
* Diplomacy and ability to deal with difficult situations.
* Leadership and team building skills.
* Awareness of NHS plan access Targets.
