Cyber Security Engineer (Automotive)

Key Accountability and Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership
o Collaborate with controller owners on the development and integration of security features across automotive platforms.
o Provide expert guidance on security functions (IDS, SOC, TLS and VKMS etc.) for automotive systems.
o Lead/Coordinate the design and implementation of robust automotive cybersecurity strategies and solutions.
2. Threat and Risk Mitigation
o Review the risk analysis, and vulnerability assessments for automotive components and systems.
o Establish baselines for applying security functions and continuously improve defense measures to address evolving threats.
3. Compliance and Standards
o Analyze relevant requirements to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g. GB-44495, ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP.29, GDPR).
o Lead efforts to address security technologies required to obtain cybersecurity certification.
4. Collaboration and Communication
o Foster communication between internal stakeholders, partners, and external vendors to ensure cybersecurity goals are achieved.
o Present complex cybersecurity topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior management.
o Provide training and mentorship to team members to improve the organization's overall security maturity.
5. Innovation and Continuous Improvement
o Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in automotive cybersecurity technologies.
o Identify opportunities to innovate and improve security processes, tools, and solutions.
o Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
What You'll Need
1. Automotive Cybersecurity Development Experience
o Proven experience in developing and implementing Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) for in-vehicle networks to detect and respond to malicious activities in real time.
o Hands-on experience with Secure Onboard Communication (SOC) protocols, including message authentication and encryption for CAN, LIN, and Ethernet-based automotive networks.
2. Vehicle Key Management System (VKMS) Expertise
o Strong background in designing and managing VKMS for secure key generation, distribution, and storage across various Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
o Knowledge of industry-standard cryptographic algorithms and key lifecycle management specific to automotive applications.
3. End-to-End System Design and Integration
o Demonstrated ability to design, integrate, and test cybersecurity solutions across the automotive ecosystem, including ECUs, gateways, and backend cloud services.
o Familiarity with security-related hardware components (HSM, HSEE) and experience with over-the-air (OTA) software update mechanisms.
4. Compliance with Cybersecurity Standards
o Deep understanding of automotive cybersecurity regulations and standards, such as GB-44459, ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP.29, and AUTOSAR SecOC.
o Experience in aligning security solutions with compliance requirements while maintaining system performance and usability.
5. Problem-Solving and Cross-Functional Collaboration
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex cybersecurity challenges across vehicle platforms.
o Proven ability to collaborate with software, hardware, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of cybersecurity features at all development stages.
