Hospitality Chef

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Chef to join our busy and friendly school catering team as Hospitality Chef. Reporting to the Chef Manager, this role has three main responsibilities:

* Prepare delicious, high quality food for pupils, staff and visitors during term time.
\n
* Prepare catering and supervise out of school hours functions and events.
\n
* Lead the catering service for Nursery during school holidays when the Nursery remains open.
\n
\n
Being highly motivated and flexible will be key and you will need to have excellent customer service skills with a positive, cheerful, & ‘can-do’ attitude. Main duties will include:
\n
\n
* Preparation, cooking and service of the lunchtime and Nursery meals plus any hospitality functions.
\n
* Assisting the Chef Manager/Customer Experience Manager where required.
\n
* Supervising and delegating roles to supporting Catering Assistants.
\n
* Managing a key section of the kitchen.
\n
* Adhering to strict allergen protocols and procedures.
\n
* Liaising with Nursery staff regarding Nursery menu delivery and planning.
\n
* Helping with the general cleaning and clearing up on completion of service.
\n
* Supporting out of hours school events and hospitality where required.
\n
\n
Shift Patterns:
\n
35 hours per week during school term time (flexing up to 47.5 hours on peak weeks).
\n
20 hours per week during school holidays (flexing up to 35 hours on peak weeks).
\n
Standard working patterns will be Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend days required (day off in lieu during the week) for external events and lettings. Rotas will include some evening working, in line with school and external events. Advance notice of events and working patterns will be given in line with the school calendar and external event bookings to help provide a good work-life balance.
\n
Salary will be paid at 35 hours per week all year irrespective of shift pattern with surplus hours made up supporting the catering service at functions/events during evenings and weekends as required.
\n
Previous catering experience is essential as either a School Chef or from a contract/ commercial catering environment.
