Hays Recruitment is partnering with a manufacturing business based in Darwen to help recruit for an Accounts Assistant role. They have a long-standing history of excellence in design, quality, and craftsmanship. They are a significant workplace in the local community, with over 250 employees and their longest-serving employee has 40 years of service. This role is cover for a member of staff taking a secondment, developing their skills in another area of the business for a total of 6 months. The role is a full-time onsite role with flexibility on the start and finishing times.
Your new role
As a temporary Accounts Assistant, you will be responsible for day-to-day accounting requirements, including:
1. Customer invoicing procedures
2. Chasing overdue amounts
3. Dealing with queries
4. Handling AR month-end routine procedures and forwarding customer statements
5. Performing period updates and reconciliations
6. Conducting weekly production and sales analysis
7. Maintaining weekly spreadsheets for performance, lost time, production, and sales reports and graphs
8. Allocating cash receipts to the accounts receivable ledger
9. Liaising with internal and external accounts payable departments to resolve queries
10. Maintaining manual cash books
11. Preparing month-end prepayments and accruals schedules
12. Bank reconciliation and cash returns for the Head Office
13. Quarterly VAT returns
14. Providing financial analysis as required by Department Managers
15. Assisting with Reception cover as needed
16. Providing cover for the Accounts Payable section during periods of absence
17. Handling government returns
18. Reconciling intercompany accounts
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in accounts receivable and payable. You should be proficient in using accounting software and have excellent attention to detail. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently are essential. Good communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders are also important.
