AA Euro are currently looking for a site-based Engineer to join a Civil Engineering contractor working across the Southern Water infrastructure.
Role Overview
As a Site-Based Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering critical infrastructure projects for Southern Water. You will oversee and manage the technical and engineering aspects of civil engineering works, including waste and clean water facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, and associated infrastructure. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile projects while contributing to essential water and wastewater solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Management:
Provide technical support and leadership on-site for civil engineering projects, ensuring work is completed to the required standards.
Assist in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of method statements and risk assessments.
Ensure all designs, drawings, and plans are followed accurately.
2. Site Coordination:
Work collaboratively with the Site Manager, project team, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure the project runs smoothly.
Oversee quality control and ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
3. Setting Out and Surveys:
Carry out setting out duties for all structures and services on site using appropriate equipment.
Conduct surveys to monitor project progress and verify completed works.
4. Health, Safety, and Environment:
Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety and environmental compliance on-site.
Ensure all activities adhere to health and safety legislation and company procedures.
5. Project Reporting:
Maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, material records, and site diaries.
Provide regular updates to the Site Manager/Project Manager regarding progress, issues, and risks.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
2. Proven experience working on water infrastructure projects, including waste/clean water facilities and pumping stations.
3. Proficiency in setting out and survey equipment (e.g., GPS, total station, and laser levels).
4. Familiarity with relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project).
5. Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Desirable:
1. Experience with Southern Water or other UK water utility frameworks.
2. CSCS card or equivalent.
3. SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
4. Membership in a professional body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM).
