A compassionate and dedicated personal assistant is needed to support a vibrant and sociable 16-year-old girl with complex physical and medical needs living near Truro.
She is a wheelchair user and depends on others for all aspects of her care. She is a non-verbal communicator with a warm sense of humour and a love for being involved in activities around her. She expresses herself using her eyes, facial expressions and vocalisations.
Duties will include supporting her with personal care needs and assisting her in the community with fun activities, encouraging communication and choice-making, and assisting with any immediate needs.
The right person would be able to support her to take part in various activities in and outside the home. They would be creative, fit and energetic. They also need to have a reliable and flexible attitude.
Full training will be provided, and once trained, the successful applicant will be confident to take initiative and work independently or assist her parents with her care in the home or on outings.
The rate of pay starts at £13.00 per hour with potential increase based on skills and experience. Full training will be provided.
On average, 12 hours per week are available. The ideal candidate will have a reliable and flexible approach. Weekend and school holiday availability will be required and the ability to work within school hours would also be helpful.

Previous experience working with young people, particularly those with disabilities, is a distinct advantage. A driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable but not essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
