Accountability:
* Using design experience and knowledge to ensure customer expectations are satisfied.
* Taking a pragmatic approach to problem solving, which may involve developing new concepts or techniques, also to be involved in problem-solving activities in other disciplines.
Responsibilities:
* To coach and mentor less experienced colleagues, sharing knowledge and experience to aid development.
* To provide composite design knowledge and expertise to the business and particular projects.
* To keep up to date with advancements within the design field so ensure that the most appropriate solutions and techniques are used.
* To perform check signatory activities.
Tasks:
* To use expertise and experience in design of new projects and improvement of existing designs.
* To design composite products for a variety of markets using CATIAv5 with CPD and CPM capability.
* To work to agreed parameters to ensure a successful outcome.
* To contribute to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures relating to engineering design.
* To identify opportunities for improvement and see through to conclusion.
* To determine own or project objectives and priorities.
* To communicate effectively with internal and external parties to encourage an integrated and collaborative approach.
Work to agreed budgets, timescales and parameters.
* Perform root cause analyses and support the implementation of corrective actions.
* Develop a continuous improvement culture by supporting the implementation of lean techniques, review and assess new technology and develop processes that reduce cost, improve quality and increase efficiency.
Technical Competencies:
* Experienced designer using CATIA v5 CPD and CPM.
* Experienced in using a product lifecycle management system.
* Experienced in geometric tolerancing.
* Experienced in designing composite products.
* Ideally experienced in designing marine and aerospace composite products.
* Experienced in tool design.
* Experienced in constructing plybooks.
* Pragmatic problem solving skills.
* Decision making ability.
