About us
Chiltern Way Academy Trust (CWAT) is an Ofsted 'Outstanding' academy, providing cutting-edge and transformational approaches to educating students with ASC and SEMH. We currently have four campuses, with two secondary schools, one primary school, and one combined school.
Responsibilities
1. Act as Cover Supervisor, covering/supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers.
2. Work with withdrawal and small groups to provide support and intervention.
3. Lead a team of Assistant Teachers as required.
4. Work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist teachers in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources.
5. Complement teachers’ delivery of the national curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, pupils, and Academy policies and strategies.
6. Provide support for pupils, the teacher, and the Academy in order to raise standards of achievement for all pupils (e.g., additional SEN, EAL, GT, FSM, underachievers), by utilizing advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing, and managing classes.
7. Encourage pupils to become independent learners, provide support for their welfare, and support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life.
About you
Essential
1. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
2. Attend induction training; NLS, NNS, ALS, ELS, FLS training as appropriate and training relevant to the post, including behaviour management and Child Protection training.
3. Understanding of behaviour management strategies.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills both in working relationships with young pupils and in forming effective professional relationships with a wide range of contacts.
5. Good organizational and time management skills.
6. Sound IT skills to support learning and maintain electronic information systems.
7. Able to form and maintain appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with children and young people.
8. Ability to organize, lead, and motivate a team.
9. Ability to organize classroom activities (e.g., preparing and setting out resources and implementing strategies for T&L).
10. Willingness to attend school training sessions.
11. Empathy with young people facing barriers to their learning and a commitment to helping young pupils achieve through education and learning.
12. An understanding of and a genuine commitment to Equal Opportunities.
